In Asset Liability & Equity, meanings continuously shift: competition presents itself as love, empathy is mistaken for weakness, and authority calls itself protection. Care is no longer unconditional, but demands obedience. Within this unstable framework, the question arises: which system are you part of?
Between nurturance and capitalism
The performance moves between extremes. Half concert dance, half arena. Nurturance and capitalism coexist and collide. At the core are two moral poles: interdependence versus self-reliance, care versus preservation. These tensions drive a physical and layered choreographic language.
Love, law and surrender
At its center lies the friction between what brings people together and what pulls them apart. Love connects, while rules and structures divide. The work raises pressing questions: what do you resist, and when do you surrender?
Asset Liability & Equity is a confrontational and immersive experience that balances attraction and discomfort — challenging audiences to examine their own limits.

ARK/Connor Schumacher
ARK/Connor Schumacher, founded in 2020 by Connor Schumacher, is a Rotterdam-based dance organization that brings social choreography to life. ARK’s work moves people physically and mentally, from the intimacy of theatres to the energy of festivals and clubs.
ARK’s focus on essential soft skills was shaped through participation in international dance research projects such as Empowering Dance and Dancing Museums. This led to collaborations with institutions including Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen and the Louvre.
ARK creates productions such as Funny Soft Happy & The Opposite, Pilot PC and Threesome. Recent projects include Clubinc, in collaboration with Theater Babel, and Physical Therapy, a concept for a sober morning rave. In 2024, the techno-jazz musical Raging Against Various Elements premiered, which won the 2025 Zwaan Award for Most Impressive Dance Production.
ARK’s philosophy is rooted in neuroscience and psychology, working towards a social dance culture grounded in the belief: society would be better if we danced every day.
