An unconventional piano recital in which music, storytelling, and collaboration with a mime actor come together.

Elizabeth Goh impressed the jury of Dutch Classical Talent with her unconventional piano recital. The Singaporean-born pianist combines music, stories, and movement in a recital that invites reflection on the role of imagination in a restless world. Pay particular attention to the cheerful role of the toy piano and the new compositions by Mattias Spee and Apollon Kalamenios.

The little blue notebook has disappeared. The little book in which the countless stories of a young, imaginative soul were recorded. As Elizabeth tries to remember the notebook and its contents, old and new stories unfold, musically visualized by piano and toy piano.

The boundary between reality and imagination gradually blurs in a musical wonderland of unexpected repertoire, extended techniques, and electronics: exciting and sometimes unsettling.

Elizabeth Goh

Elizabeth Goh, born in Singapore, is a classical pianist known for her sensitive musicality, intellectual depth, and artistic curiosity. She is currently in the second year of her Master's program at the Amsterdam Conservatory, where she studies with David Kuyken and Frank van de Laar with support from the Jacques Vonk Fund. Additionally, she specializes in contemporary repertoire there under the guidance of Ralph van Raat.

In 2018, she made her debut in Singapore with the Orchestra of the Music Makers (OMM), and in 2025, she debuted in the Netherlands with Ravel's Piano Concerto in G at PHIL Haarlem. She also participated in masterclasses with renowned musicians such as Pascal Rogé, Ralf Gothóni, Alexander Kandelaki, Janusz Olejniczak, and Marc Danel, among others. Elizabeth regularly collaborates with other musicians, and her projects have been presented in Singapore and the Netherlands, including at venues such as Muziekgebouw aan ’t IJ and TivoliVredenburg.

As a socially engaged artist, Elizabeth is committed to curating educational and thought-provoking programs that invite the public to reflect on current themes such as identity, cultural dialogue, and the representation of women. In doing so, she often makes use of contemporary and lesser-known repertoire. Her compelling playing and adventurous programming earned her second prize at the Schimmel International Piano Competition in Germany and a place as a finalist in the Dutch Classical Talent competition 2026/2027.

In addition to her performing practice, Elizabeth has a great interest in music research and poetry, which she often incorporates into her concerts to create more layered experiences.

She is grateful to the National Musical Instruments Fund for the generous loan of a C. Bechstein piano during her studies.
