The Current is part of The Human Odyssey and explores how people create meaning and a sense of belonging through shared physical experiences. The performance translates the codes of club culture to the stage, approaching raving as a form of embodied resistance and freedom.
From night to release
Within an electronic environment, performers reconstruct a night in which pain, trauma and segregation are left behind. The movement shifts toward release, connection and collective experience. Texts by Ronelda S. Kamfer, performed by Sarah Janneh, and live music by Max Frimout and Stanislav Tolkachev form the core of the performance.
A living landscape
The audience moves through an immersive installation by Boris Acket. In a shifting environment of corridors and platforms, performers, musicians and spectators share the same space. Light, sound and choreography create a dynamic setting in which individual and collective energy continuously evolve.
The Current is a sensory performance about movement, taking a position and the power of the collective.
