1st prijswinnaar van de 12de International Piano Competition for Young Musicians 2024

Ivan Petrović-Poljak was born in Zagreb in 2004. He began his musical education at the age of 8 at the Rudolf Matz Elementary Music School under the tutelage of Prof. Vesna Fretze. From the very beginning, Ivan demonstrated an excellent sense for musical interpretation and outstanding technical skills, leading him to participate in competitions starting at the age of 10. To date, he has participated in over 40 competitions, mostly winning first prizes. Since 2018, he has been attending the Vatroslav Lisinski Music School in the class of Prof. Olga Cinkoburova, with whom he has been collaborating since 2015. Since 2022, Ivan has been a student at the Music Academy in Zagreb in the class of Prof. Ruben Dalibaltayan.

Some of his recent competition results include the first prize and audience award at the International Enschede Competition in the Netherlands (2024), the third prize at the Pancho Vladigerov International Piano Competition (2025), the first prize at the Isidor Bajić Competition in Novi Sad (2021), first prize at the Radovljica Competition (2021), first place at national competitions (2015-2023, consecutively), winner of the national selection for Eurovision Young Musicians (2020), and many others.

In addition to competitions, Ivan has performed in numerous concerts, both as a soloist and with orchestra accompaniment (Zagreb Philharmonic, HRT Orchestra, Radio France Orchestra, Budapest Dohnanyi Orchestra, Kiev Chamber Orchestra, Phion Orchestra, Sofia Soloists).

Ivan has also received numerous awards for his achievements in performance, including 8 "Oskar znanja" awards from the Ministry of Science and Education and the Zagreb "Professor Baltazar" award. For the fourth consecutive year, he has been a scholarship recipient at the International Music Academy in Liechtenstein, where he takes lessons with Prof. Ruben Dalibaltayan, Prof. Milana Chernyavska and Prof. Pavel Gillilov. He has also participated in masterclasses with world-renowned professors such as Natalia Trull, Naum Grubert, Alexander Strukov, and others.
