In a new, epic version by internationally renowned director Ivo van Hove and featuring a star-studded cast including Jeangu Macrooy (Jesus), Lucas Hamming (Judas, replacing Freek Bartels), Edwin Jonker (Pilate), Paul Groot (King Herod), Magtel de Laat (Mary Magdalene), and the best talents from both within and outside the Netherlands.

The rock musical 'Jesus Christ Superstar' has received the 'VVTP Diamond Ticket Award' for selling more than 150,000 tickets. Producer Albert Verlinde was presented with the award during 'Today Inside.'

The unforgettable lyrics and music by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber, along with a live orchestra, form the foundation for this fully English-sung theatrical spectacle.

Jesus Christ Superstar contains discrimination, suggestion of physical violence, physical violence/abuse, flashing light effects, scenes with (film) blood, and confronting content. Recommended for ages 16+.

Director Ivo van Hove about Jesus Christ Superstar: ''I want to show the audience something they have never seen before. That we are doing something different with this Jesus Christ Superstar. The stage is ready to explode. I want the audience to feel part of it, to play their role.'' According to Van Hove, this story is about humanity, friendship, and the doubt we all have.

It is a performance about worship and betrayal, glorification and slander, and power and rebellion. But above all: a story of hope. The songs from the original 1970 album form the foundation of this iconic performance.
